This is my website. I'm finishing my doctorate at AUT. I work on deep-sea food-webs, with a focus on bycatch from New Zealand's orange roughy, and scampi fisheries.

I have a graphic/web design background and I occasionally create artwork. This artwork is updated when I have time...

Interview

This is a link to an mp3 file of an interview I did on Radio NZ's Our Changing World in March 09, about my research.

I last modified this website: 28-07-10.

Award

The 2008 New Zealand Marine Sciences Society conference in Christchurch held a marine artwork competition. I entered this piece called 'Dark star', and it won.

Starfish from ~1800 m depth on the Challenger Plateau, west of New Zealand.

In May 2007 I was lucky enough to be invited to be a scientist aboard NIWA's research vessel the RV Tangaroa, as part of the Oceans 20/20 program (TAN0707).

It was a brilliant experience, and I'm in debt to to the kind NIWA staff for allowing me to take part. In future updates to this site I hope to add more photos...

Here are some pictures from my trip to Venice in August 2003. They're screenshots from video so they are a bit blurry. They open in a new window.
